The price of going to university or college is rising every year and with it the necessity to have higher education when entering the job market. For many people that means that they are going to need to do some serious saving to turn that acceptance letter into their four-year admission fees. Whether you're interested in working as a Canadian lawyer and studying in a city like Toronto or want to stay close to home in Louisville here are some tips for saving for your education.

The first thing that you can do to raise money for college is to work hard in school and plan to apply for as many scholarships and bursaries as possible. Most schools give out millions of dollars each year to deserving students with good grades and a long list of extra-curricular activities and this is money that you never have to pay back. Whether you're planning to start your own SEM Toronto to Tokyo international firm as a business graduate or want to attend cooking school you could even get enough to pay for your entire tuition.

Set up a second account for your savings for school. When you get some extra money for a birthday or Christmas put it in that account and try to forget about it. This is a much better use of the funds than buying a new outfit or going out to dinner. Students are usually offered bank accounts with no fees so if you're not offered one of these by your bank representative than you should ask if one is available. You should also think about investing the money that you are saving. Talk to your parents and a bank representative to choose the best savings package for you. This is smart money saving if you're interested in using the funds to go to school or to qualify for a private commercial mortgage.

Make sure that you stay organized with your spending. If you have a part-time job you might want to put half of each paycheck into your savings account for school. Or you could create an entertainment budget for yourself that you are not allowed to exceed. If you don't have a part-time or summer job than you should think about getting one. Doing kitchen remodeling Toronto based or working in a bookstore not only will get you extra money that you can save for school but it also looks good on your college applications.

No matter how diligent you want to be about saving your money for school you still want to make sure you're taking advantage of your teenaged years and having fun. But you don't need a lot of money to have a good time with your friends or family. If you've spent a few nights that week working at a Vancouver auto body shop or babysitting in the neighborhood you could have a movie night at home or spend a day hiking in the woods.
